Prof. Dr. Weihua Pan is a professor at Shanghai Changzheng Hospital affiliated to Naval Medical University. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in medicine in 1991 and then received her master’s degree and doctoral degree in dermatology in 1994 and 2000 from Second Military Medical University. She visited Westerdijk Fungal Biodiversity Institute (Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts & Sciences) in the Netherlands for medical mycology research in 2009. She is now the Executive Director of the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education of China, and director of Shanghai Key Laboratory of Medical Mycology. Her research interests include cryptococcal meningitis, emerging fungal infections, the mechanism of fungal drug resistance and so on. To date, Prof. Pan has published 100+ papers in journals such as New England Journal of Medicine, Nature Microbiology, Clinical Infectious Diseases, and edited 10 books. She received more than 30 research grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Ministry of Science and Technology of China. Prof. Pan is serving as the vice Chairperson of World Society of Chinese Medical Mycologists, the vice Chairperson of the Medical Mycology Professional Committee of the Chinese Mycological Society, the chairperson of the Fungi Professional Committee of the Shanghai Microbiology Society, the head of the Mycology Group of the Chinese Dermatology Society, and the vice chairperson of Shanghai Dermatology Association. She has won multiple awards such as the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.
