Theme: AI-Driven Sustainable Transportation Systems

We are pleased to announce a call for papers for the upcoming Special Issue of the Journal of Highway and Transportation Research and Development (English Edition) (HTRD), to be published in Issue 1 of 2027. This special issue will focus on the integration of Artificial Intelligence with intelligent and sustainable transportation development, aiming to address the multifaceted challenges of environmental sustainability, social equity, and economic efficiency in advanced transportation systems.

The transition towards intelligent and sustainable transportation is crucial for achieving global carbon neutrality goals and building inclusive, resilient societies. This special issue aims to explore how to utilize AI technologies (including machine learning, big data analytics, digital twins, and intelligent control) to optimize resource use, reduce environmental impacts, enhance system efficiency and fairness, and promote sustainable mobility patterns.

Objective:

The purpose of this special issue is to highlight the transformative role of AI in advancing intelligent and sustainable transportation systems. We welcome submissions on innovative theories, methodologies, and case studies that contribute to designing, managing, and optimizing such systems.

Scope:

We welcome submissions that address, but are not limited to, the following topics:

  • Data-Driven Intelligent Management Strategies for Urban Transportation Systems
  • Intelligent Connected Vehicle Systems and Cooperative Control Technologies
  • Intelligent Network Resilience Enhancement for Public Transportation Systems

  • Multi-modal Sustainable Travel Network Coordination and Service Optimization
  • Intelligent Perception and Carbon Accounting for Transportation Systems

  • AI-Driven Modeling of Sustainable Transition Policies for Transportation Systems

Submission Guidelines:

Manuscripts should be original and not previously published elsewhere.

Article Processing Charges (APC)

An APC of USD 1000.00 (US dollars) applies to all accepted papers after peer review. We also accept payment in RMB (CNY).

An APC discount will be offered according to the policy of HTRD. For details, please contact the editorial office or corresponding editor.
