Special issue information:
Under clear anatomical layers during procedures, surgeons can efficiently expose and dissect the target vessels, which effectively shortens surgical time, facilitates intraoperative lymph node dissection, and reduces postoperative complications. The liver is a solid organ, therefore hepatobiliary surgeons are accustomed to break up the liver parenchyma to expose intrahepatic vessels with various instruments, which thereby destroys the anatomical layers inside and outside the liver. Recently hepatobiliary scholars have gradually paid attention to the Laennec capsule, which is severed as the landmark for liver mobilization, establishment of the retrohepatic tunnel, and dissection of the hepatic pedicles and hepatic veins under laparoscopy (Figure 1). Domestic and international scholars have further expanded the clinical practice of Laennec capsule as procedure landmark for suspicious gallbladder cancer, or difficult cholecystectomy. Therefore, it is very necessary to organize a special issue to discuss the necessity and feasibility of Laennec capsule as the anatomical layers during hepatobiliary surgery, to publish clinical research on Laennec capsule as the anatomical layers during hepatobiliary surgery. With innovative research and clinical trials in this field, we aim to provide a comprehensive overview of Laennec capsule-based implementation of hepatobiliary surgery. This special issue aims to bring together leading experts to promote dialogue and share insights, further advancing the implementation of anatomical liver surgery.
Potential topics include, but are not limited to, the following reviews, case reports with or without videos, or articles:
