Tsinghua University is pleased to announce the official launch of Ocean, an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to advancing research in ocean science, technology, and engineering. Serving as a multidisciplinary platform for original research articles, reviews, and perspectives, Ocean showcases the latest theoretical, experimental, and numerical advancements in the marine field, in support of global sustainable development.

“Adhering to the principles of internationalization, specialization, and authority,” said Professor Jian-Min Zhang, Editor-in-Chief of Ocean, “we strive to make Ocean one of the most influential academic journals in the global marine field.”

Backed by an elite editorial team of top scholars from across the globe, the new marine-focused journal is setting high standards for academic excellence and collaboration. A rigorous peer review process ensures only the most impactful work makes the cut—drawing a steady wave of high-caliber submissions from researchers worldwide.

Through open access (OA) publishing, Ocean is breaking down traditional barriers to academic access, enabling widespread sharing of cutting-edge marine science and engineering research. By making findings freely available to global audiences, the journal fosters seamless collaboration among international research communities and accelerates breakthroughs in this critical area of study.

Ocean is currently accepting submissions and publishing on a continuous basis under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY). As an Open Access title, all articles are available to read freely on the journal website.

“We are well aware that the path to creating a journal is fraught with challenges,” Professor Zhang said, “but we firmly believe that with the strong support of the scholarly community, this journal will undoubtedly become an academic flagship in the global ocean field, contributing to the prosperity and development of marine science, engineering, and technology all around the world.
