Journal of Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (JBUTCM), formerly named Journal of Beijing College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, is published by Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM) directly under Ministry of Education (MOE) since 1959. It is a national peer-reviewed flagship journal of BUCM, with a deserved reputation for publishing original research and development on all aspects of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

Scope of Journal
JBUTCM is committed to the promotion of academic development in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). With the full support of BUCM resources, this journal covers major scientific reports on laboratory research, clinical trials, and pharmaceutical studies as well as case reports, expert commentaries and other types of articles to become a featured central journal.

Journal Ranking
JBUTCM is one of the core journals in natural science and Chinese journals in China. It is included into the major 10 indexing periodicals and 6 databases. It was also one of the first 315 journals in the Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD) and recognized by“China Periodical Phalanx” in the first batch as “High-impact Journal (social and economic impact)” in July, 2001. JBUTCM has been listed in the 100 Outstanding Academic Journals of China for three consecutive years between 2012 and 2014. It also has been awarded by MOE as Outstanding University S&T Journal of China five times.

The total citation frequency and impact factor of JBUTCM has taken the lead role among all journals of other universities and colleges of Chinese medicine, and come out top in journals of medical universities and colleges and periodicals of Chinese medicine or Chinese pharmacology. JBUTCM's impact factor is 0.722 (2014).

In 1999 it was listed as formal resource of Chemical Abstracts (CA) of USA and Abstract Journal (AJ) of Russia, in 2007 as formal resource of International Pharmaceutical Abstract (IPA), Cambridge Scientific Abstract (CSA) of USA and Ulrich’s International Periodicals Directory (Ulrich PD) of USA, and in 2009 as resource of Documental Database in China of Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). 

Frequency of Publication and Access
JBUTCM is published 12 times per year in print issues. The average order of each issue is around 4000 copies. All articles are available online on the journal website and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) full-text databases.

Editorial Information
JBUTCM’s acceptance rate is around 10% of more than 2,000 articles it received. In 2014, the median time for an initial editorial decision for submitted manuscripts was 90 days; the median time from submission to acceptance for all articles was 180 days and 60 days from acceptance to publication.
